Mara River Post is a mid-range permanent tented camp located in the Serengeti Mara area of northern Tanzania. The camp is situated on a hill on the south side of the river and offers 16 tented rooms for guest accommodation. It provides access to a good range of safari areas, including prime locations for viewing wildebeest migration river crossings during the dry season from July to October. Unlike other seasonal camps, Mara River Post is open for most of the year, closing only during the main rains from mid-March to the end of May.

Mara River Post has 16 elegant en-suite safari tents with stunning views of the Mara River.

Both sides of the hill have public areas with pleasant lounges and bars as well as brilliantly constructed open eating areas.

A swimming pool and spa are also available.
The camp is set on a hill with unobstructed 270° views of the Mara River and the Savannah.
The elegant common rooms are built on high platforms to maximize views of the river, where you may observe wildebeest passing or elephant families.
The calm environment and personalized attention make you feel at ease. After an adventurous day in the jungle, relax in the pool or take a sleep on the sundeck.

The 20 deluxe canvas tents are designed in contemporary African style and each has a furnished observation deck overlooking the magnificent Mara river and the boundless grasslands.
The tents are comfortable, with en-suite facilities (flush toilets, a bathroom sink, and a shower), dressing room alcoves, and lovely timber finishes.
Even during the warmest seasons, the thatched roofs ensure a moderate temperature inside.

Getting there

To get to the camp, visitors can fly into the nearby Kogatende Airstrip for the start of their safari, which is followed by a safari drive of approximately 60 minutes. At the end of their stay, guests can depart from the same airstrip to travel by air down to Serengeti Central, from where they can begin the overland segment of their trip southwards through Ngorongoro, Manyara, and Tarangire reserves. If the camp is at the end of the safari, visitors can end their overland safari in the Central Serengeti and travel north by air to Kogatende Airstrip. The airstrip has daily flight connections with Kigali (for gorillas in Rwanda), Manyara, Tarangire, Ruaha, and Selous (for more safari), Zanzibar (for tropical coastline), Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, and Nairobi (for international arrivals and departures).
